We are delighted to welcome Rev. Alan Wardlow to Portaferry Methodist Church.
There is no Minister stationed in Portaferry and Glastry this year, and we are extremely grateful that Alan has agreed to serve for 2 ½ days per week. Although formally retired, Alan continues to serve the Methodist Church in Ireland in this part-time capacity.
Originally from Belfast, Alan trained for Ministry at Edgehill College in Belfast and Cliff College in Derbyshire. He has been a Minister in the Church for 34 years, serving in Circuits both in the North and South, and last year, 2025/26, he was honoured to be the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland. His Presidential year included many highlights as he travelled across Ireland, but of particular note was his visit to the Methodist Church in Cuba.
Alan is a keen tennis fan, both as a player and as a follower of the professional tour. His other interests include the gym, music, reading, travel and home renovations.
Alan will be serving the Portaferry and Glastry Churches for 2 ½ days per week and will approach the work flexibly, seeking the best way to serve the two congregations. However, a fixed point will be Sunday services, when he will cover the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, and a 5th Sunday as required.
